The Hogg

The Hog controls a large area of water at the top of the long lake. You literally have sexy looking marginal areas from the right-hand side of the swim and a large area along the far margin. There are some fantastic stalking opportunities along this stretch of bank.

If you spend some time with a marker float in this swim you will discover that the lake is shallower than normal to about two thirds of the way across and then drops off into slightly deeper water along the far margin.

Although the carp frequently swim up and down this channel when it gets warm, they will often come up onto the shallower water so keep an eye open for signs on this shelf as anglers often ignore it in favour of the sexy looking marginal areas.
