As we closed the door on another fantastic season, it was one to remember. The year finished on a real high with five carp over the magical 60lb mark, alongside numerous stunning fish pushing 58lb and 59lb. These results confirmed what we already knew — the fishery continues to go from strength to strength.

With the season wrapped up, attention quickly turned to winter maintenance and improvements across the complex. A major focus this winter was the removal of snags, particularly in Elf Lake and the top end of The Old Lake. This work was carried out to improve fish safety and allow the carp to move more freely around the lakes, opening up new areas and opportunities for anglers.

Once the snag removal was complete, a small team came over to carry out general maintenance on the lodge and facilities, ensuring everything is kept to a high standard and ready for the coming season.

During this period, we had a moment that truly confirmed the work was paying off. While on site, Tony landed an incredible 68lb 2oz carp — just 2oz short of the complex record. Even more exciting, it was a fish we didn’t recognise. The only conclusion we can draw is that the removal of the snags allowed this previously unseen giant to start moving more freely around the lake — exactly the outcome we hoped for.

Looking ahead, we’ve also carried out a significant restocking across the complex. A total of 248 carp were introduced, with an average weight of 27lb, and these fish have been carefully spread across all lakes. This not only boosts stock levels but ensures a strong future for the fishery as these carp continue to grow on.

Over the next few weeks, work continues behind the scenes. We are:

Everything we do is focused on improving both the fishing and the overall experience for our guests. With the improvements already completed and more still to come, the future of the fishery has never looked brighter — and we can’t wait to welcome anglers back to see the results for themselves.
