Planning a group carp fishing holiday to France? Here’s why the coach option wins every time
Group fishing trips are one of life’s best pleasures: six mates, a week in France, big carp and stories that get better every season. The one thing that can kill the buzz before you’ve even cast off is the logistics.
Who’s driving? How many cars do we need? What if someone misses the ferry? Who’s navigating? What if the cars don’t make the same crossing? What happens if someone gets lost on unfamiliar French roads?
Anyone who’s organised a group trip to France knows the headaches. And everyone wishes there was a simpler way.
There is.
How the Les Quis coach package works for groups
Our 52-seat luxury coach leaves from a single UK pickup point, carries the whole group and all the tackle, manages the ferry crossing and drops everyone at our complex in Bray-sur-Seine together. No convoy. No stragglers. No drama.
From the minute you step on board to the moment you’re standing in your swim, the logistics are on us. All you need to sort is who sits where.
The problem with driving as a group
Most groups travel in multiple cars. That seems simple until:
- One car misses the ferry and turns up six hours later
- Sat-navs send different cars on different routes, and two end up refuelling miles apart
- A driver’s car breaks down, and the whole party is delayed for hours
- The person who “knows the way” doesn’t, actually
- Tired drivers make poor calls at 2 am on the périphérique
None of that happens on the coach — those variables simply don’t exist.
About 80% of Les Quis guests return year after year. Group bookings on the coach package are among the most frequent. Once a group has tried the coach, they rarely go back to driving.
The group experience starts on the coach, not at the lake
Regulars say this all the time, and it’s easy to underrate until you’ve done it.
When you drive separately, the trip only becomes a group event when you arrive — people trickling in at different times, setting up in the dark, and trying to remember which peg was agreed on.
On the coach, the trip begins the moment you climb aboard. The banter, the tactics chat, the tackle swapping, the wild predictions about who’ll land the biggest fish — it all starts hours sooner. You arrive as a group, in good spirits and ready to fish.
For many regulars, the coach journey is as much a part of the Les Quis tradition as the fishing itself.
Practical benefits for the trip organiser
If you’re the organiser, the coach package is a lifesaver. Instead of juggling:
- Separate ferry bookings for multiple cars
- Different arrival times and complicated pickup logistics
- Car-sharing arrangements and splitting fuel costs
- Route planning for drivers who’ve never been
…you make a single enquiry, confirm the group size, and we handle the rest. The coach option genuinely reduces the admin to near zero.
Tackle and kit for groups
The common question is: can everyone bring everything they need?
Our luggage allowance is designed around carp anglers travelling to France. Rods, bivvies, bedchairs, bait, cooking kit, clothing — the coach can take the volume serious anglers travel with. Check our Luggage Allowance page for full details, or call with your group’s kit list and we’ll confirm before you book.
Group sizes and lake options
Les Quis has four lakes, each with its own character and stocking:
- Old Lake (11 acres): Carp to 65lb+ with a lake record of 65lb 6oz. Our most established, atmospheric water.
- Long Lake (13 acres): Records to 63lb 12oz — suited to anglers who like working larger open water.
- Elf Lake (9.5 acres): The specimen lake, with fish over 60lb and a record of 68lb 4oz.
- Bay Lake (14 acres): Plenty of 20s, 30s and 40s — perfect for groups wanting steady action and a sociable layout.
We limit numbers to a maximum of 18 anglers across the three main lakes and 6 on Bay Lake. That low-density approach is central to the quality of the trip — room to fish properly, not shoulder-to-shoulder.
